Building Technology you Can Own

We believe organizations deserve technology they understand, control, and trust. Through consulting, custom development, and infrastructure services, we help our clients build resilient digital foundations that support their mission today and their growth tomorrow.

Our Story

The Problem We Saw

Arkraft was born from a challenge we encountered time and time again across Africa's technology landscape: organizations were expected to build their operations on platforms they did not control. Critical communications depended on foreign services. Sensitive data was stored under external jurisdictions. A single internet outage could bring coordination, service delivery, and decision-making to a standstill.

We saw public institutions struggle to maintain secure communications when they mattered most. We watched organizations navigate growing concerns around data sovereignty, privacy, and compliance. Too often, the tools they relied on were designed for other markets, governed by other priorities, and hosted beyond their control.

We believed there had to be a better way.

That belief became Arkraft Technica.

Our mission is to help African organizations take ownership of their digital future through strategic consulting, custom technology solutions, and infrastructure designed for resilience, security, and independence. We are building technology that works for our realities, supports our ambitions, and remains under the control of the organizations that depend on it.

Because digital transformation is not just about adopting new technology. It is about ensuring that the systems you rely on are built to serve your interests, protect your data, and strengthen your ability to operate on your own terms.

The Journey Began

In March 2022, Kaitano Andera identified a challenge that many organizations across Africa were quietly facing. Critical operations depended on communication platforms designed for different markets, different infrastructure realities, and different priorities. Organizations were expected to adapt their processes, policies, and workflows to fit the limitations of the software they purchased. When a product could no longer meet their needs, they were often forced into costly migrations, retraining programs, and operational disruptions just to keep pace. Rather than technology adapting to organizations, organizations were adapting to technology.

A month later, development of TARK began with a simple but ambitious goal: to create a communication platform built around the realities of African organizations rather than asking African organizations to conform to the assumptions of foreign platforms.

As the concept evolved, it was shaped by countless conversations with IT managers, government officials, business leaders, and technology professionals. The message was remarkably consistent. Organizations needed reliable communications that could withstand infrastructure challenges. They wanted greater control over their data, stronger security assurances, and systems that could be deployed according to their operational requirements rather than the requirements of a vendor thousands of kilometres away.

Most importantly, they wanted technology that worked for them.

These discussions reinforced a fundamental belief: organizations should not have to redesign their operations to accommodate software limitations. Technology should support existing workflows, governance structures, and strategic objectives—not force businesses to change how they operate.

TARK was built on that principle.

What began as one person's idea has since evolved into a broader vision of digital sovereignty, resilient communications, and technology ownership. Today, TARK continues to be developed with the same guiding philosophy that inspired its creation, building solutions that give organizations greater control, flexibility, and independence in an increasingly connected world.

What We're Building Toward

We're only at the beginning of that journey.
What started with the development of TARK has grown into a broader mission, helping African organizations build, manage, and control the technology they depend on every day. Over the years, we have evolved from a product-focused initiative into a full-service technology company. Today, Arkraft Technica provides strategic IT consultancy, custom software development, systems integration, infrastructure services, and proprietary solutions including TARK, Qwerty Chat, Mmaps, and ArkForms.

Each solution we develop is guided by the same principle that inspired TARK in 2022: technology should adapt to the needs of organizations, not the other way around.
Too often, organizations are forced to reshape their operations around the limitations of software and platforms that were never designed for their environment. They are required to surrender control of their data, depend on external infrastructure, and navigate systems that prioritize vendor interests over organizational needs.

We believe there is a better approach.
Our vision is an Africa where organizations have genuine control over their digital future. Where data sovereignty is not an afterthought. Where critical communications and operations remain reliable even in challenging conditions. Where organizations can choose technology based on what serves their mission rather than what limits it.

To achieve that vision, we continue to invest in research, expand our consulting capabilities, strengthen our development expertise, and build partnerships across the continent. Because digital independence is not achieved through a single product. It is built through the combination of strategy, infrastructure, technology, and expertise working together. While our services and solutions continue to grow, our mission remains unchang, to provide comprehensive technology solutions that empower African organizations with greater control, resilience, and independence in the digital age.
